Our Approach

We are revolutionizing student learning through an innovative curriculum and highly effective instructional practices. Edison School of Innovation has high expectations and enthusiasm for learning.

Project-Based Learning

Edison School of Innovation provides a rigorous and relevant project-based approach to Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math that allows students to master core content as well as explore their areas of interest. Teachers support student learning by being educational innovators, incorporating effective instructional strategies with relevant tasks across the curriculum that students find both important and engaging

Knowledge-Based Curriculum

We believe that all of our students are curious about their surroundings and want to learn about the world. That is why our curriculum in every subject and every grade is focused on building knowledge. All our courses are organized by themes or topics rather than skills. Our students find these topics far more engaging and commit greater effort to learning than in a typical skills-based classroom. Students also develop the critical thinking and analytical skills they need to thrive.

Student Character

Students participate in a positive learning environment by building the following characteristics:

  • Grit — the determination and resilience to face challenges and persevere through them.

  • Gratitude — expressing thankfulness, appreciation, and kindness to others.

  • Flow — the mental state of full immersion in an activity where an energizing focus and enjoyment is achieved in the process.

  • Self-Control — the ability to regulate behaviors and emotions to achieve specific goals.

Educational Philosophy

Our educational philosophy is rooted in six fundamental beliefs:

  1. Build a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy skills.

  2. Critical and creative problem solving is essential for shaping the future.

  3. Focus on effort rather than intelligence or talent.

  4. Soft Skills are essential for healthy child development.

  5. Interaction and reflection are essential for high student engagement.

  6. Assessment is a learning opportunity as well as a guide for instruction.
